Disturbia

It's as if Rihanna can do no wrong!
This talented artist has had at least one chart-topping hit on every album she' released! Pon de Replay became an instant dance club hit when it was released on Rihanna's 2005 debut, Music of the Sun. In 2006, A Girl Like Me boasted the ever-popular S.O.S (Rescue Me) as it's opening track. And in 2007, Rihanna's third studio effort, Good Girl Gone Bad, sported three well-loved singles; Umbrella, Don't Stop The Music, and Shut Up And Drive. And now it seems even her remixed versions of old albums are popping up with hits of their own!
Now, after recently remixing her latest album, Rihanna has brought Disturbia back into the spotlight. Mildly popular at the time of its original release, the song has catchy beats and is easy to dance to (would it be Rihanna any other way?). However, the original release was just a little to ordinary to gain huge success. But this remixed track steps it up a notch, giving the song just enough of a unique touch to stick in the heads of listeners everywhere.
But while I think the remixed version of Disturbia is good, I don't like the song well enough to have posted it on this blog. Then why, you may ask, is Disturbia featured on music.is.life?
The music video.
This video is unlike anything we've ever seen from Rihanna. She really pushed the limits as far as what would be "accepted" by her fans and by fans of the genre. I'm sure plenty of Rihanna fans watched this music video for the first time and went "... what happened to Rihanna?!?" The video is, well, disturbed. Rihanna took so many chances with this video, and for that, I commend her.
This is Disturbia, by Rihanna.

Sorry about the ad at the bottom of the video. It was so hard finding a version of the video that could be embedded in this post! I had to settle for this :(

Disturbia
Rihanna

What's wrong with me?
Why do I feel like this?
I'm going crazy now

No more gas in the rig
Can't even get it started
Nothing heard, nothing said
Can't even speak about it
All my life on my head
Don't want to think about it
Feels like I'm going insane, yeah

It's a thief in the night
To come and grab you
It can creep up inside you
And consume you
A disease of the mind
It can control you
It's too close for comfort

Throw on your break lights
We're in the city of wonder
Ain't gonna play nice
Watch out, you might just go under
Better think twice
Your train of thought will be altered
So if you must faulter be wise
Your mind is in

Disturbia
It's like the darkness is the light
Disturbia
Am I scaring you tonight?
Your mind is in
Disturbia
Ain't used to what you like
Disturbia, disturbia ...

Faded pictures on the wall
It's like they talkin' to me
Disconnectin' your call
Your phone don't even ring
I gotta get out
Or figure this s*** out
It's too close for comfort

It's a thief in the night
To come and grab you
It can creep up inside you
And consume you
A disease of the mind
It can control you
I feel like a monster

Throw on your break lights
We're in the city of wonder
Ain't gonna play nice
Watch out, you might just go under
Better think twice
Your train of thought will be altered
So if you must faulter be wise
Your mind is in

Disturbia
It's like the darkness is the light
Disturbia
Am I scaring you tonight?
Your mind is in
Disturbia
Ain't used to what you like
Disturbia, disturbia ...

Release me from this curse I'm in
Trying to maintain
But I'm struggling
You can't go, go, go
I think I'm going to oh, oh, oh

Throw on your break lights
We're in the city of wonder
Ain't gonna play nice
Watch out, you might just go under
Better think twice
Your train of thought will be altered
So if you must faulter be wise
Your mind is in

Disturbia
It's like the darkness is the light
Disturbia
Am I scaring you tonight?
Your mind is in
Disturbia
Ain't used to what you like
Disturbia, disturbia ...

Oooh. That's very different from what you normally post, but I enjoyed it. =]

You're right about the video! It has an almost Gothic feel to it, and it's very. . .well, disturbing lol.

nice post!
